'June,' Silver Lion Winner at Cannes 2017
Goal To show the true power of community, Lyft worked with Academy Award-winning director John Kahrs to create an animated short film. 'June' follows a widow in the historic Bronzeville neighborhood of Chicago as she starts sharing the ride — and sharing her life, too.
Role I worked with the film's Creative Director, Brand Designer, Editorial Director, and Producers to ready 'June' for distribution. In addition to interviewing director John Kahrs about his inspiration and workflow, I also worked on the film's tagline, logline, YouTube description, and physical collateral. We also hosted driver appreciation events in LA and Chicago, exclusively screening the film to drivers before sharing it with the public. In preparation, I created an awards ceremony (the "Golden Keys") for top drivers attending each event, including naming, award categories, and grab bag swag.
Results June won a Silver Lion at Cannes 2017, had a 98% thumbs-up rating on YouTube, garnered 181 million media impressions, and inspired the matching of $330,000 in driver tips.
